Houston . . . We have a problem

The best croissants in the Latin Quarter and a trip to the Luxembourg Gardens were on the agenda yesterday morning but we hit a bit of a hiccup right from the start. . .

Our hotel is an 18th century building that has been converted into 14 beautifully appointed fully equipped studios and apartments. We have a two-bedroom and are on the top floor of the building. Fortunately, for our backs, there is a very small elevator that transported our luggage. Unfortunately, for our hearts and nerves, it didn’t safely transport our kiddos yesterday morning. . . While headed down in it to start our day, all three kids got stuck between floors and couldn’t get out. The staff had to turn off the electricity and get a key to open the shaft and pull them each out one by one. It was scary as hell but Gus was a fearless leader and worked to keep the littles calm. Needless to say Joe and I were a bit shaken but it didn’t stop us from having another epic day.

>>>Jet lag update: the kids are fully adjusted but I, however, am lagged! Oi! So funny how the seasoned traveler is struggling 😉

The photos track our day from a lovely little morning breakfast picnic and ride on an old school merry go round at the Luxembourg Gardens to our ascent to the tippy top of the Eiffel Tower. We also had legitimate French crepes at Le Creperie Petit Josselin, a local haunt recommended by one of Joe’s French colleagues. Absolutely delicious and I copied the locals by putting the salad on top of my savory crepe of Camembert cheese, boiled apples and prosciutto! So dang good!

The kids also rode a double decker carousel at the base of the tower and I got suckered into some pretty cute photos of them riding on the top deck. Making memories!

As we are amidst a record breaking heat wave here in Paris, beating the previous record from 70 years ago the kids joined in with the locals by jumping into the fountains near Trocadéro at the base of the Eiffel Tower to get some relief. What an experience!

The Tower of Terror’s got nothing on Le Tour de Eiffel, I absolutely loved watching Gus challenge his fears as we click clacked up to the very top, and Tessa, our fearless one, hanging along the fence and enjoying all of the views of Paris below.

Another wonderful day. Aside from Tessa getting tired and needing rides on Dad’s shoulders, the kids have all been super resilient and have not complained about all the walking. They also can’t keep their hands off of each other, making Joe and I lose our minds but we’re hopeful it’ll get better with time. This is just the beginning leg of a lot of “together time.”

It was an early to bed night, by 7 for Tessa and 8 for the rest of us, but jam packed and most memorable!

On to our next adventure! ❤
